About Pioneer

Established in 1985, Pioneer is a network of networks, church hubs and ministries committed to church planting, leadership development, training and the support of innovative caring projects.

Billy & Caroline Kennedy, Senior Leaders of New Community, Southampton, lead the network of more than 80 partnership churches of various sizes and with varying structures, that can be found across the UK – with many more associate churches in mainland Europe, Africa, India, Asia, Australia and the USA.

We are committed to non-religious Christianity, building missional church and working in partnership wherever we can. We host a variety of gatherings throughout the year – our Annual Leaders Conference, Summer School of Theology and the National Churches Forum – to encourage and support leaders.

Key Values

Pioneer is a network of networks, teams and hubs that gather around a common vision and distinctive values.

Missional

We serve a missional God who is intent on restoring His creation to relationship with Himself. We participate in His mission to the world looking to see heaven on earth expressed in beauty, justice and relationship.

Relational

We believe in a church that is relational reflecting the image of God. Our success is measured by the quality of our relationships. Structures need to fluid and adaptable. Everyone has a part to play.

Non-exclusive

We are part of the wider Body of Christ. As such, our churches and ministries are to serve the whole church, not simply focusing on the narrow stream or denomination of which they are a part. We will serve and partner with other organisations wherever this is possible.

Non-religious

We find in the Scriptures a gospel of freedom not a faith bound by rules or regulations. We promote a non-religious Christianity where we celebrate all that is good.

Charismatic

We are unashamedly charismatic. We welcome the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We believe in a God who invades time and space. A God who works miracles, heals sick bodies, speaks into our lives and gives us the power to live the Christian life.

No sacred-secular divide

We believe that everything is 'spiritual' - marriage, family, work, play, business, art, music, creativity, - and all we do should honour and glorify God.

Celebrating the arts

God is creator. We value creativity and encourage the expression of creativity through the arts.

The role of women in leadership

We value the role of both women and men in leadership. Together we express the image of God.

The Bible is our guide

We have a Biblical worldview that shows a God who is first and foremost relational. He acts and interacts with His creation. Jesus is the truth. Our theology is the story of our journey with this relational God, it is open and dynamic.
